In Vitro Embryo Culture of Apricot, Prunus armeniaca L. cv. Hacıhaliloğlu

چکیده
An in vitro zygotic embryo germination protocol was developed for apricot (Prunus armeniaca L. “Hacıhaliloğlu”). A hundred percent of germination was obtained when isolated embryos were cultured in vitro, a result alike those reported in the literature with traditional dormancy breaking treatments. In vitro seedling development was optimal in a modified full-strength Murashige and Skoog (1962) [1] medium with Gamborg vitamins supplemented with 1 mgl BA, 30 gl sucrose, 6.3 gl agar. An average of 2-4 shoots was produced from the initial seedlings after 14 days of culture. In vitro developed plantlets were successfully acclimatized and transferred to soil. In vitro embryo culture thus allows for the production of apricot seedlings that can be transferred to natural orchards.

Design, construction and testing of an apricot tractor-trailed harvester
The purpose of this research is to facilitate the mechanical harvesting of apricots (Prunus armeniaca L.) for industry. A tractor-trailed harvester was built to catch the fruits detached from apricot (cv. Búlida) trees by vibratory systems. This machine is a low profile catcher that can move under the trees in high-density canopies where umbrella-type harvesters cannot. The trailer is able to w...
متن کاملSuccessful Establishment of In Vitro Cultures of Prunus cerasifera Hybrids by Embryo Culture of Immature Fruits
Rapid obtaining of clonal plants is desirable to shorten crossing programs in fruit tree breeding. In this work, seedling germination and multiplication in vitro allowed us to establish successful in vitro cultures of hybrid seedlings. As a part of a breeding program in apricot rootstocks, we have obtained interespecific hybrid seeds after cross-pollination: myrobalan x apricot (Prunus cerasife...
متن کاملFemale and male sterility cause low fruit set in a clone of the `Trevatt' variety of apricot (Prunus armeniaca)
This study investigated ovule and anther structure of the `Trevatt Blue' variety of apricot (Prunus armeniaca) using bright field microscopy following reports of low fruit set. Ovules and anthers from fertile `Moorpark' and `Trevatt Knight' flowers were compared with those of the `Trevatt Blue'. In the `Moorpark' and `Trevatt Knight' ovules, all reproductive structures were present including em...

Allelopathic effect of apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.) root on some crops and weeds was investigated in two independent experiments. First, the effect of concentrations aqueous extract of apricot root (AAR) was assayed on the seed germination of Cicer arietinum L., Phaseolus vulgaris L., Triticum aestivum L., Zea mays L., Amaranthus retroflexus L., Secale cereal L., and Avena ludoviciana Durieu. ...

Apricot (Prunus armenica L.), a fruit species of the family Rosaceae, genus Prunus L., is widely distributed in the Mediterranean region and the Middle East, especially in Iran. Suitable climatic conditions for apricot production and its economic importance were the main reasons for its vast area under cultivation and diversity. We studied genetic diversity of eighty three apricot genotypes and...
